for everyone

An interesting link I came across. Some things are up in the air for discussion but there are many sound principles laid out.

Point 17 is the fresh one. Individual sensitivity; of course the entire service cant be accomodated for him, but still a good point to note.

some points are good like stressing the need to glorify God and be humble. like to comment on some points though.

Point 2- i really can't see what's wrong with 'I will praise You'. True, it deals with man's intent rather than sing about God but it's not possible to have every song say about everything. And if there's anything that needs to be dealt with, it should be the heart first. Maybe a better way is to sing a range of songs that deal with various aspects of the bible.

Point 9- that's a good point. being doctrinal is not enough. gotta put passion in what u believe. If there's anyone we should be most emotional about, it's God Himself.

pt 17 about musical styles- there's a difference between musical styles and biblical expressions of worship. The bible speaks about praising God in loud and soft ways. There's alota dynamics there. if we got a church who only enjoys soft music styles, doing that for them would give us only one form of expression and we miss out on the others that the bible speaks about. So musical styles and worship expressions tend to be confused or excused for one's musical preference.

Thanks Oliver, I'd agree with you totally.

Especially on the first point you brought up. Maybe, perhaps just maybe the writer was indicating that we should try to pick songs which can be sung more truthfully like about who God is than making the congregation sing a whole bunch of "I Will" songs which some of them find hard to sing truthfully.

At the essence of it, he could have put it in a better way, and I think there is space for both.

With a congregational size of 130, it can be abit hard to get this down dont ya think?

Even then, I believe that God's leading above all should be the one followed. In the wake of a tragedy, God calls me to sing happy songs... and then I read this article... I would sing happy songs!

Yes bro, well said. Praising God is a choice we make...'Still I Will praise Him...'.
